Nanisivik
Past-Producing World-Class Mississippi Valley-Type (MVT) Deposit that Yielded Over 20 Million Ounces of Silver and 5 Billion Pounds of Zinc.
The Nanisivik Project includes the Nanisivik Mine, which is a past-producing silver-zinc–lead deposit located on northern Baffin Island in Nunavut, approximately 30 km east of the town of Arctic Bay.
Historically, the mine produced high-grade carbonate-hosted Ag-Zn-Pb mineralization and benefits from established infrastructure including a government-funded deep seaport, fully operational airport, and road-accessibility.
The project represents a rare opportunity to prove the mineralization potential remaining at the former Nanisivik mine while continuing to explore new targets in a proven Arctic mining district on recently staked prospective ground.
Project Overview
The Nanisivik Project is located near Arctic Bay on Baffin Island, Nunavut. The property includes the historic Nanisivik mine, which produced zinc, lead, and 20 million ounces of silver from 17.9 million tonnes of ore before operations ceased in 2002 due to low commodity prices.
Historic drilling has identified several zones of mineralization remaining on the property, representing a large mineralized system with potential for additional silver and critical metals discoveries.
Honey Badger Silver controls a large land package surrounding the historic mine and is actively exploring unmined zones and new targets identified through historical data review and modern geophysical surveys.
2025 Exploration Program
Honey Badger recently completed a field program focused on advancing several high-priority exploration targets. Work included:
- Ground electromagnetic (EM) geophysics surveys
- Prospecting and geological mapping
- Target generation for future drilling
Current Land Package
- In 2022, Honey Badger Silver acquired the 5,723-hectare Nanisivik project
- Recent review of a historic database identified new exploration potential
- In 2024, the total project now comprises 13,373 ha.
Key Highlights from Exploration Review

- 22.79% Zn, 12.42% Pb, 97.6 g/t Ag over 5.3 meters
Unmined Prospects with Significant Silver Grades
- Prospects include Deb, K-Baseline, and Area 14
- Reported silver grades often exceeding 100 g/t
Geology & Mineralization
- Regional Geologic Setting
- Honey Badger aims to delineate a resource of up to 100 million ounces of silver at a grade of 30-50 g/t Ag
- Use of Modern Technology:
- Historical regional airborne geophysical survey combined with modern geophysics for enhanced exploration targeting
Commercial Viability
- Pyrite Bodies:
- Potential source of sulphuric acid, which is in worldwide shortage
- May contain economically significant concentrations of silver, zinc, germanium, gallium, and indium
- Port Development:
- Deep-sea port being constructed adjacent to the Nanisivik mine
